Sterling, Colorado is located just two hours northeast of Denver, on the South Platte River and Interstate I-76, just 40 minutes south of I-80. The hub of Northeast Colorado, Sterling is home to 11,000 people, and serves 65,000 people from surrounding areas. Sterling is also the county seat of Logan County.
Sterling, founded in 1881, boomed during the years the Overland Trail was heavily traveled (1858-1869) but later many communities became ghost towns. Ruins and old foundations still exist throughout this area (these can best be seen along county roads and in fields).

Sterling is home to Northeastern Junior College, established in 1941. Fully accredited by the North Central Association, all programs are approved by the Colorado State Board of Community Colleges and Education.
Sterling Regional Medical Center has been serving the residents of Northeast Colorado and the surrounding area since 1938. A 36-bed acute care facility, Sterling Regional Medical Center employs approximately 275 people and serves medical staff of over thirty physicians and dentists.
